Weezy is free at last! Lil Wayne, who has been behind bars for eight months for attempted criminal possession of a weapon, was released early this morning from New York City's famed Riker's Island prison. The hip-hop icon, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was sentenced last March for attempted criminal possession of a weapon. Wayne admitted to having a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun when his tour bus was stopped shortly after a New York City concert in 2007, and he pleaded guilty to the felony charge. Wayne will be flying high for a minute, but he has some unfinished business in Arizona. The multiaward-winning artist was spared time in an Arizona jail under a plea deal stemming from his 2008 arrest at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in the state. The rapper's tour bus was stopped and searched by Border Patrol authorities after they said they were alerted by a drug-sniffing dog. Agents found nearly four ounces of marijuana, an ounce of cocaine, 41 grams of ecstasy and a .40-caliber pistol registered to Carter.
